This Eastern Wizard bears the mark of chi flow/suspension discipline seen in renowned warriors like Shin Bo and Taki. Lo Pan's choice of name is steeped in the lore of Feng-Shui geomancy, an obscure branch of planetary magic that enables the Wizard to anchor himself while manifesting his chi at extremely remote locations. Very useful for Sorcery and Chaos combat spellcasting.
Playing as Lo Pan Edit
Lo Pan's portrait may be selected for a custom Wizard when starting a new game at any Difficulty setting above "Intro" in the official game, or respectively "Easy" in the unoficial patches. Selecting either his default profile or his portrait prevents him from being encountered as an opposing Wizard.
Played on his default spec, Lo Pan enjoys the unique status of being a 12-pick Wizard, owing to some oversight in patching the Channeler ability from the original version of Master of Magic. Fortunately, a split Bookshelf plus Channeler is not an earth-shattering build, but is still an economical portfolio for combat casting that allows the Wizard to shift his Power Base from raw Mana Crystal production to Spell Casting Skill. Lo Pan's strength does not come out in any singular battle, but rather in his ability to wage endless battles far, far away from the Fortress. Before that stage, Lo Pan should be hauling his game to that stage by every means.
Lo Pan as an Opponent Edit
If not chosen, Lo Pan may appear randomly among the computer-controlled opponent Wizards. Their finalized Spellbook and Retort picks strongly influence these Wizards' die rolls for AI Personality and Objective. At the "Normal" Difficulty setting and above, there is a 20% chance of either his Sorcery or Chaos aspects rolling up into a single color. Taking this into account, Lo Pan's typical traits are predicted below.
Higher Difficulties subject a Wizard's default profile to increasingly arbitrary adjustments, including exposure to random Realms and skills. At the "Impossible" setting, be prepared for anything.
Starting Spells Edit
At the start of the game, a non-customized Lo Pan knows all spells specified in the table below. The known spells of a randomly generated opposing Lo Pan depend entirely on the type and quantity of Spellbooks. For more information see the Wizard article. How many spells are researchable throughout the game depends on this as well.

David Lo Pan is a sorcerer first introduced in the 1986 movie Big Trouble in Little China where he serves as the main villain. Lo Pan's name is unmistakably a tribute to this character.
