"Flight" is an inexpensive Item Power belonging to Icon Sorcery.pngSorcery, and functions on Heroes' equipment exactly as per the Icon Sorcery.png Flight spell. It may be added to Jewelry via Enchant Item or Create Artifact, but will seldom otherwise turn up, since only one pre-fab item has this Power.

This Power harnesses Icon Sorcery.pngSorcery's control over the realm of air. It allows the wearer to fly overland and in combat at a speed of Icon Movement Air3.

It works in all ways like the Unit Enchantment Spell so-named, and can only be added to a miscellaneous accessory. You do not need to be able to research or cast a Flight spell.

The enchantment will dissipate immediately if the Hero ever removes or loses the item. While worn, however, it cannot be dispelled— a serious, possibly life-saving, advantage over the spell that justifies the additional Icon Mana.png Cost of enchantment.

Strategy Edit

"Flight" is cheap and has a powerful effect. Icon Sorcery.pngSorcery boasts several Item Powers recommending it as the strongest overall choice to complement the Artificer / Runemaster combination, and "Flight" is one of them.

The stronger the hero, the more impetus there is to get him quickly from battle to battle. Flight compresses the time between battles (netting Icon Experience.png Exp gains, Treasure, and other spoils), as several other powers from different realms of magic do, but at the same time it gives the hero an undeniable edge in combat.

Since Item Powers' enchantments are unbreakable, "Flight" preempts continual recasting of the Flight spell after getting hit with Disenchant Area. It also prevents the hero from being drowned by disenchantment. It does this while only costing 1.6 times the base price of Flight and being available from the first turn of play to a qualifying Artificer.

Jewelry is expensive to stat up, and this is one of the cheapest Powers available on the Misc slot. It is therefore often worthwhile to craft a miscellaneous accessory bearing only "Flight" while you try to assemble the skill and resources needed to craft a more powerful piece of jewelry (on which "Flight" should almost certainly remain present).

Of the pre-defined Items, only one, the Ring of Dasmiff, bestows "Flight". It requires the wizard possess Icon Life.png3 Life Books in order to turn up randomly in loot or be awarded in The Gift, a random event. Otherwise, the only means of acquiring it is from a Merchant, a random petitioner.
